Aviation industry is an operations intensive industry with multi stakeholders’ involvement mainly airports, airlines, civil aviation authorities, ground handling agencies and aircraft manufacturing companies. The impact of operating yearly 47 million flights, transporting 4.5 billion passengers with 8.6 trillion revenue passenger kilometers through 48044 plus routes is dreamliner so as environmental hazards in term of producing 914 million tonnes of Co2 annually. To create the balance, UN agency International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) establish environmental goals towards sustainability of aviation industry by 2050. This paper attempts to throw light on the edifice of aviation sustainability goals and air transport industry initiatives through compilation of industry cases. The paper also establishes the need of collaborative decision making, policy formation and alternate energy sources through practicable initiatives by aviation players as recommendations.
